Tara over at Easy Makes Me Happy posted this wonderful tutorial/pattern for tiny plush crocheted hearts. There are two in Red Heart Super Saver sitting in front of me on my desk. They are adorable!

This is the interestingly interwoven tale of the T.C., Ale and Augie’s Freshman year of High School. TC Felt like the main character because his narrative was the strongest. The thing that bothered me about this book is how all of the problems that these three teens told us about in their journals, emails, notes and IMs are pretty vapid. Don’t get me wrong all of the characters are good people with strong morals, but they are all upper middle class and they don’t have any of the other problems that go with High School. They scheme, try to be normal and try to be fabulous.

Overall it is a good coming of age story, and the little kid who pops up halfway through made me laugh and cry. The ending is obvious from early on, but that’s okay.

I have been in two of my friend Alyssa’s comic-diary comics. She resolved this year to write a comic a day. So far so good. Her comic is Tangled Mess: The Girly, Nerdy, Terribly Strange Journal Comic. I love it. Her art is good and her time line has been pretty good. I’m really proud of her.

It probably helps that she makes me look really cute.

Lub is one of my few characters without a back story, I usualy just offer that I think she was raised by Goblins. She has got a personality, she’s as curious as a Gnome, but as quirky as a Goblin. She values material possessions a little too much and is more vain than is expected. She likes to try to out drink Dwarves and is only associated with the Alliance because it would be more trouble otherwise. She loves her Wolf Fenrisulfr and prefers no other company to his. She would be happy to go months without seeing another living sentient being. She enjoys that some mercenary missions allow her to mercilessly slaughter undead, and feels little remorse that her love for the bottle and fishing can’t drown. Her dream is to retire in the same way Nat Pagle did, and with about the same amount of fame, booze and adventure under her sleeves. She picked her surname while venturing in Outland, it was inspired by her one attempt to poke through the remains of a Fel Reaver.

Night Elf
Luv can be found with long green hair, often pulled back off of her face with a leather strap. Her skin runs to the violet side of the varied colors of the night elf.

Cat
Aside from the standard pattern that druids take while in the form of a cat moon’s snout bears just above her nose a white patch of fur in the shape of a moon.

Bear
Being the preferred form of Moon many of her friends do not recognize her when she takes other shapes. Her fur is a slightly more purple shade than the standard grey-brown that many bears of the area assume. Her long and slightly pointed snout bears many scars, as do her burly fore flanks.

Moonkin
She looks like a Moonkin, the only real distinguishing feature she shows in this form is her smaller than normal antlers.

Storm Crow
Her tail-feathers fade to a slight green at the end, mimicking her hair color almost perfectly.

3 baskets of Bottled Water By djwaldow

Yikes. I am a little appalled about every time I bought over-priced un-safe bottled water. Currently I have been using the same Fuji water bottle for a while now. I gave John my WSU Nalgene bottle and took his sippy water bottle, I have  because he couldn’t throw his in his bag. But it’s too hard to use and quite small so I’ve been using the Fiji bottle for a while now. I’m worried that I can’t clean it out if I want to though.

I need a new water bottle, I’d like one of the metal ones, or another Nalgene bottle. I miss my Powells one I melted.

I also want to read (and have requested through the local library): Bottled and Sold: The Story Behind Our Obsession with Bottled Water by Peter Gleick.

Moonluv (Currently 83 Night Elf Druid Restoration / Feral (Bear) – Herbalism / Alchemy)

Figuring out to heal as a Resto Druid (Tree!) with all their new trinket like buttons has been awkward. I have not killed any groups too much though. I do run out of mana sometimes though.

I have not tried out my feral spec in an instance, though I have leveled as a cat which is not super rewarding. I miss boomkin (balance) to level but I haven’t decided what spec to stick with. Since they added a CD to swipe I’m worried about multi-target tanking and am waiting to practice some before I tank.

I found that Hyjal has a lot of Cinderbloom to be had. A LOT. I sold somewhere near 20 stacks of the stuff coming out of the zone with herbalism leveled past it, and 4 stacks in my bank. Making good bank on watching the herb trends.

I started without epic flight form. It has been very frustrating. I did a good job of not throwing anything. I had saved up about 3,000 gold when a friend offered to lend me the remainder. I took it and quested away. I paid him back in under 72 hours from quest reward gold and the money I was making from herbalism.

ILubLawn (Currently 83 Night Elf Hunter  Marksmanship / Beast Mastery – Mining / Engineering / Fishing / Cooking / Archeology / Achievements…)

Originally I was going to level this character first, but then Giz asked if I was going to level a healer and I looked over our tiny guild roster and realized that I was going to have to do that if i wanted us to get anywhere. So I decided to break with tradition and not level my priest first, but instead level my Druid (see above). So Lub has been logged for a bit when Moonluv is out of rested. I have mostly leveled her Archeology (220) and her fishing (some #, lots of fish). I also have finished Vashj’ir and done the go to for most of the zones so I don’t miss them.

Archeology has been interesting, fun and easy to do while working on my homework. I can use the flight master system + Azeroth flying with little time investment. It takes a while for the experience points but I think it’s fun to read all the item descriptions.

I’ll leave that for now as I think that most of you don’t really care about my random Wow-capades.

Choose a favorite poem written by somebody else, type a copy of it, delete every other line from the poem, and write your own lines to replace those you’ve deleted. Next, delete the remaining lines from the old poem so that only your lines remain. Read what you have, and revise it, adding new lines to fill in the gaps.

A Grocery Store in Vancouver

The things I think tonight linger on you, Walt Whitman. I walk down side streets, under trees, full moon heavy in the sky, worried, alone, self conscious.
In my ravenous sadness, searching for mangos – for sustenance – I ventured into the small local store, I dreamed of your figure.
What a concept, whole homes of people shopping at night. Asiles full of partners, babies spilling out of baskets into the produce, produce spilling out of baskets and into the babies laps. Lorca hiding in the fine wines and Stein among the beers.

I witnessed you, Walt Whitman – soft quiet transparent – ghostly old greybeard. You haunted the young men in the produce isles.
I overheard you question them questions about the foods, provocatively wondering about the source of the sausage and the humanity of the eggs. Asking if they were your savior.
I stalked you through the short isles, sneaking along to keep from your notice. I was hoping to follow perfectly in your footsteps. We were in turn stalked by the store snitch.
You sauntered down the aisle the delicacies filling your mouth, your pockets, your hands. You tasted each pear, declared all too ripe and moved on. I never saw your billfold.

Where are we going? What are we doing? Walt Whitman, we must leave, the sun rises soon.  Which way does your beard point tonight?

We walk all night through the wet streets. We peer in windows. We do not acknowledge each other, we dare not look at the tailing snitch. We are both lonely.

Will we stroll dreaming of the lost America of love
past blue automobiles in driveways, home to our silent cottage?
Oh father, oh progenitor, oh poet from before, oh teacher, oh American dream. Where did you leave? Is it so different from here? Why did you not pass on? What did you fear?

I did not include find a job because that is not a “sometime this year” goal, that is a requirement.
